We had the best food ever! Fries, street corn, Al Capone, Brussels, and Carribean jerk chicken. Food came out fast and all of the people there were so nice! Great summer place to sit outside and eat we'll be back!

Federalist Pig was on a recommended list about a 10 minute walk from where I was staying in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood for what will become twice monthly work trips to DC. Walking in, the intoxicating scent wafts over the entire area. Even on a Sunday in the early evening, I waited in line for about 10 minutes - a sign of Federalist Pig's popularity. Once you've ordered, you wait for your name to be called from the side bar where the cooks are slinging out both to-go and for-here orders. I ordered a plate that allowed me to select two meats and two sides. I chose the burnt ends, pulled pork, and two veggie specials: brussels parmesan (play on chicken parm) and cauliflower in a savory thai sauce. There are several types of BBQ to select from and I chose a North Carolina variety and the house special. The standout of the meal was definitely the burnt ends - melt in your mouth tender with an exceptional smoky flavor. The pulled pork was similarly tender, though I found myself wishing I had it on a sandwich rather than stand alone. The cauliflower was flavorful, and the brussels sprouts were really crisp, though I found the topping on the brussels to be overly salty. If you're looking for great BBQ in DC, you really can't go wrong with this spot.

So, I want to start off by saying if they could bottle and sell the aroma, they'd be gazillioinaires!!! Went on a Sunday with my son as we wanted to really sink our teeth into something hearty and revert back to our caveman instincts... I had the brisket and turkey breast while he had the quarter chicken and ribs... The meat is definitely the star of the show as ALL of it was delicious... We had the smoked mac & cheese and seasoned fries as our sides, and honestly, they lacked the intensity I was expecting, but maybe my expectations were elevated due to the amazing smell of everything else. The price was okay, considering the amount of selection that was afforded, but probably couldn't be my everyday lunch meal... Am glad we tried it, and definitely enjoyed it, but would not make it a regular stop as we had traveled up from Navy Yard, so it is a little out of our way...

We were really looking forward to eating at the Federalist Pig because of reviews & pictures we had seen. We received both sandwiches with cold buns Not room temperature cold, but refrigerator cold which was really disappointing! We absolutely loved the brisket and sausage in the Flood Sandwich, had great flavors and kept up with the Texas BBQ we're used to. The Mac & Cheese was delicious - creamy & cheesy with a smokey flavor. We are willing to give this place another try. The place had lively music playing & seems like a great place to go with multiple people. The man taking orders was very friendly & great recommendations!

Can't go wrong with this spot. Food is made to order. Happy hour 1130-5pm. They also have new seasonal food every month. Though I didn't get a chance to try the ramen last month, I was able to try the lamb gyro this month and it was delicious. Along with the chicken sandwhich and boa buns. I wish the chicken sandwhich was a little spicier but overall it was The spicy margarita in a can is also very good and packs a surprising punch. After 2 of them you'll feel jussstttt right

Great BBQ if you are in the area. Federalist Pig is definitely an interesting choice as BBQ places in DC are already hard to come by. This location was spacious with one section dedicated for tables if dining in, and another to order. They have a special menu too but I didn't order anything from there unfortunately. I'm sure you'd like the interesting fusion dishes such as Chili Cheeseburger Empanadas and Pork Belly Bao Buns. I got the sampler platter which was three meats and two small sides. I got Pulled Pork Shoulder, Chicken, and Brisket. My two sides were Coleslaw and Seasoned French Fries. There was a happy hour too but I forgot the name of the beer I got but it was under five bucks so I can't really say no to that. You pick your food up at a counter and grab sauces, napkins, utensils, ect as well before sitting down. They have five different sauces all which their own unique taste based on what you prefer in BBQ sauces. Personally I like the Carolina BBQ and the Hot BBQ as I like tangy BBQ but also a tad sweet. Sometimes I just like Spice as that is also an enhancer to BBQ too. The chopped brisket was great and I think out of the three I'd highly recommend. The chicken, I do not recommend as I felt that it was too dry and I had to use sauce to get through eating it. The Pork Shoulder is like the brisket, it's chopped but it's very tender and was very good with the Carolina BBQ Sauce. The coleslaw is passable but veggies couldn't hurt. I do like the seasoned French fries though. They were good. I want to come back and try out the other options. Federalist Pig was a fun visit and I definitely think it's one of the best BBQs in DC!

I'm by no means a BBQ snob but I've had BBQ once or twice and I'd say Federalist Pig is quite good. My favorite was actually the pork belly. It was perfectly tender and juicy with a delicious smokey flavor. The brisket and ribs were quite good as well. Their sides are solid as well the brussel sprouts were solid quite hard to miss there and the mac and cheese and potato salad were also good. Their selection of bbq sauces really did it for me each one had depth of flavor and brought a new flavor profile to each bite.
